To mark the World Diabetes Day, the Diabetes and Endocare Clinic here led by consultant endocrinologist Dr Sunil Kumar Kota organised a mass awareness rally at the Khallikote College Ground here on Saturday.
Around 900 people registered for the event, where Ganjam SP Narasingha Bhol and Brahmapur Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor K Madhavi joined the event as chief guest and guest of honour, respectively and flagged off the walkathon. The participants were in a uniform dress code conveying the theme of Walk for Healthy life and holding blue balloons.
Earlier the guests spoke on the importance of exercise and proper lifestyle in maintaining a healthy life. The event witnessed congregation of people from various walks of life, including members from nine volunteer organizations and physicians.
At the end, free blood sugar testing was carried out on all the participants.
