A delegation of MLAs would meet Orissa High Court Chief Justice KS Jhaveri on January 3 to press for their longstanding demand of setting up of a permanent High Court Bench in western Odisha.
Jharsuguda Congress MLA Naba Das, who will be a member of the delegation, informed this on Friday. Sambalpur BJD MLA Rajeswari Panigrahi would also accompany the team. A few other MLAs would also be included in the team, Das added.
Das said on July 27, 2015, the then Union Law Minister Sadanand Gouda had urged the Orissa High Court to make its stand clear on establishment of a HC Bench in western Odisha. In response, the then High Court Chief Justice on August 2, 2015 said the Pal Commission has been formed and a report in this regard would be submitted in three months. Das said three years have passed, but the High Court has not given any report on the matter yet. The delegation would approach the Chief Justice to submit its report as soon as possible, he added.
Das said the MLAs would also meet Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on the matter.
