The Central Action Committee (CAC) of the All Western Odisha Bar Associations has accepted the invitation of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to discuss the issue of establishment of a permanent High Court Bench in the western Odisha.

The decision was taken at the core committee meeting of the CAC in the premises of the Sambalpur Bar Association on Friday. “A 23-member delegation from across the western region except Balangir and Rourkela Bar Associations will attend the meeting with the Chief Minister on Saturday in Bhubaneswar. We will discuss on our demand for winding up of the Pal Commission and setting up of a High Court Bench in western Odisha,” said CAC convener Ashok Dash.

"At the same time, the agitation will continue in western Odisha," he added.

On the other hand, the deadlock continued across western Odisha because of the lawyers’ agitation since August 20. The State Government offices and courts continued to remain paralysed.

The filing of nominations for the municipal elections could not take place for the fourth consecutive day in Sambalpur on Friday. Similar situations prevailed in Deogarh, Bargarh and Jharsuguda district too.
