As ugly situation has emerged in the Veer Surendra Sai University Technology (VSSUT), Burla.
The students of Rohini hostel for girls and many others are up against a letter from the warden denying them to go out of hostel after evening and talk in road side with boys.
The public of Burla, the passersby and sensitive people didn’t take it easy as the boys and girls are gossiping in the open. They might have brought the matter to the notice of the university authorities and the VC might have been prompted to pass such an order due to this.
But the order has not gone down well with the students. “It is a direct encroachment on our independence,” they said with postings in social media. “We are not children. We have responsibility too. We are capable enough to take care of ourselves including our dignity,” they said.
But VSSUT VC Atal Choudhury said that such a notification was necessary as there were a lot of discussions as to the particular incident of boys and girls gossiping on road.” “I also request the students, both boys and girls, to maintain the dignity their university since their activities came under virulent criticism. Even some elite people brought this matter to the notice of the Burla police. Hence, we have taken the measure,” Choudhury said.
