VSS Nagar residents to take to streets

VSS Nagar residents have threatened to take to the streets if the subway constructed under National Highway-16 near the Vani Vihar over-bridge is not made functional at the earliest.

“Two years have passed since the Vani Vihar- Acharya Vihar over-bridge opened. However, the subway constructed as a road communication from VSS Nagar to the city area through Vani Vihar has not been made functional.

“If the under path is not made functional within 30 days, VSS Nagar residents will stage a dharna and, if required, take to the streets,” said the VSS Nagar Unnayan Parishad.

The Parishad took a decision in this regard at a meeting held recently under chairmanship of Krupasindhu Sahu. Members lamented that though people belonging to 10 mouzas are facing trouble in going to the city, the authorities have still remained apathetic to them.

Various other issues like construction of a police outpost, repair of interior roads, construction of a road to laxmi Vihar and the proposed rail over-bridge at VSS Nagar were discussed in detail, informed Parishad general secretary Dillip Dashsharma.

Among others, vice-president Er Shiba Prasad Mishra, treasurer Maheshwar Biswal, office joint secretary Pratap Kumar Nand, Trilochan Rath, Girija Prasad Mohanty, Kshetra Mohan Nayak, Mamata Behera and Sambit Mishra were also present.
