The Veera Surendra Sai Nagar Unnayan Parishad has urged for construction of an independent road from laxmi Vihar to VSS Nagar for easy communication of the residents of the two localities and for safety of the Utkal University.
“Due to lack of roads from laxmi Vihar to VSS Nagar and from VSS Nagar to the city, residents of the two localities and others, including criminal entities, are using the Utkal University campus for communication purposes. Resultantly, it has created a threat for safety in the university. In this situation, students demand for maintaining safety in the university campus is legitimate,” Parishad general secretary Dillip Dashsharma and suggested to concerned authorities to construct a road connecting laxmi Vihar and VSS Nagar at the earliest.
People of laxmi Vihar use the university campus to go to the VSS Nagar Haat and VSS Nagar residents use the campus to go to different parts of the city as there is no other road, he said.
Dashsharma suggested that the problem can be resolved if the old proposed road from VSS Nagar A/E to laxmi Vihar is constructed soon. The VSS Nagar residents can use the road to reach Apollo Hospital square and then go to the city via Acharya Vihar area, he said.
The Sainik School has already given land for the proposed land. But the road can be constructed if the Utkal University provides a 15-foot-wide space to a length of 200 to 300 meter and constructs its boundary.
