In a meeting for flood preparation during the current monsoon, the district administration decided to hand over the flood shelter centre to the reputed volunteers of the district.
All the line officials of the district including the district emergency officer (DEO) were present in the meeting which was held under the chairmanship of Collector Samarth Verma.
It was decided that the volunteers would monitor the flood shelters and come to the rescue of the affected people since they proved their sincerity in the past in helping the flood affected people.
To help the flood victims, 30 places have been earmarked as flood shelters where the people of the low lying and marooned areas will be provided temporary shelter.
At the same time, they would be provided cooked food from three ‘master kitchens’.
These three master kitchen will operate in the Samaleswari temple Dharmasala, Khetrarajpur Dharmasala and PWD upper IB.
“From these three places, cooked food will be provided to the flood affected people staying in the 30 flood shelters,” emergency officer Sanjib Kumar Pujari informed.
“The volunteers will play a vital role to ensure food supply to all people and the district administration will provide them all necessary help to see that not a single man faces any problem during this short stay,” Pujari added.
He also said that proper sanitation will be maintained in the shelters so that people will stay comfortably without any problem.
