Volunteers to help regulate traffic in city

Published on:

Starting from April 17, nearly 100 volunteers would help regulate traffic at major squares in the capital city. In order to regulate the traffic, the Commissionerate police have taken an initiative to engage around 70 private volunteers in the first phase. Two NGOs that have been associated in spreading awareness on road rules would provide the volunteers to the city police.

The volunteers would offer honorary and non-remunerative service while the city police would provide them uniforms and caps only. They provide assistance to traffic police personnel for monitoring vehicle movement during difficult traffic situations, said Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma.

They would now undergo training on traffic management, road rules, traffic signals and signage and will stand on the road for three hours in the daytime.
