Kin to get Rs 7 lakh ex-gratia
Srinibash Parida, an employee of Vodafone Company, was electrocuted while he was working at a tower at Nuahaat village under Derabishon Wednesday.
Parida, a resident of Janpada village under the Patkura police limits, was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital, where he was declared dead.
Taking out the dead body in a procession, some co-employees along with a few locals staged dharna before the Vodafone tower office at Garapur and demanded compensation to the deceased’s family.
When no official came out to the spot, the irate employees switched off the tower machine following which the Vodafone network was paralysed for an hour in some parts of Kendrapara and Jajpur districts.
later, senior Vodafone officials along with the Kendrapara Sadar police reached the spot and assured the workers to provide Rs 7 lakh as compensation.
