A 25-year-old visually impaired girl of Benipur village under Nikirai police station was found to be eight months’ pregnant. It is alleged that a bigamist of Tigiria village under Balichandrapur police limits had kept physical relationship with her. According to the victim girl, Kalia alias Kailash Mallick, a resident of Tigiria under Balichandrapur, allegedly kept physical relationship after winning her trust and made her pregnant. When she conceived, Mallick abandoned her.
When the victim girl developed abnormality and her family members took her for treatment, first to a local hospital and then to a Cuttack-based hospital, the doctors told that due to a tumor developed on her abdomen and hemoglobin shortage, she most of the time became sick. But recently, the family members were confirmed at the SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack that she was 8 months’ pregnant.
later, when the family members made an attempt to contact Kalia, he fled to Hyderabad. The victim girl’s father on Saturday lodged an FIR at Nikirai police station against Kalia. Acting on the FIR, Nikirai police registered a case and started an inquiry on the matter, informed IIC Pradyumna Kumar Nayak. The family members of the victim admitted her at the District Headquarters Hospital to terminate her pregnancy.
