The Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Science and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla would be developed as a super specialty hospital, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi said on Thursday.
Padhi said a sub-committee has been constituted for development of the VIMSAR.
“Besides, we have also decided to increase the number of seats at the medical college. Decision regarding the development of the hostels at the hospital was also taken at the meeting,” Padhi added.
The Sub-Committee would submit its report by October. The panel would recommend on the infrastructure facilities and increase seats in the hospital.
The issues were discussed at the governing body meeting of VIMSAR chaired by the Chief Secretary here at the State Secretariat on Thursday.
People from 10 western Odisha districts, besides neighboring Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand depend on the VIMSAR.
“We will take a final decision as per the recommendation of the Sub-Committee,” Padhi informed.
