VIMSAR gets four new dialysis machines

Published on:

Finally, the VIMSAR, Burla, has got four new dialysis machines for the kidney patients. With these, the patients in the nephrology department could get the desired and developed treatment, medical sources said.

The Odisha Small Industries Corporation (OSIC) has supplied these machines to the VIMSAR after due process of tender and purchase, it added.

‘Only dialysis machine can’t solve the problem. In absence of nephrologists, these machines are meaningless,” opines Nihal Singh, who is linked with VIMSAR and the problems of the patients in many issues. This important department of the institute is just running through makeshift arrangements with a doctor from medicine department which is again illegal, Singh said.

It is learnt from the medical sources that more than 150 dialysis are being done here in a month in spite of many hurdles. But the new machines are sure to remain idle in absence of the expert hands and particularly by the nephrologists, sources added. The superintendent of the medical Dr BM Mishra also admitted the absence of nephrologists since last six months throwing this department totally out of function. And the entire western part of the Odisha is very much prone to kidney disease due to high content of fluoride in ground water and similar other reasons, he added.

Mission VIMSAR, an organisation fighting for the cause of the premier medial institute, also demands to appoint nephrologists here.

After transfer of Dr BN Kar to Brahmapur, the department has not a single doctor here. Such attitude of the State Government is fuelling discontentment among the people here, alleged Sapan Mishra, a front line leader of the Mission VIMSAR.
