The junior doctors of VIMSAR, Burla have expressed interest to go to Malkangiri for the treatment of the sick children suffering for Japanese Encephalitis.

“The situation in Malkangiri is really heartrending. We are unable to see the grief and pain of the parents who are losing their children for ever. Hence, we are ready to go there to come to the rescue of those suffering lots,” said Dr Shankar Ramchandani, president of Junior Doctors Association (JDA) at Burla.

But for this, the permission of the State Government is required and we have sought the permission of the DMET, Bhubaneswar  as well, Dr Ramchandani informed.

“A group of junior doctors from Medicine and Paediatrics departments is ready to go to Malkangiri and once we get the permission of the DMET from Bhubaneswar, we will move,” he informed.

“There are also problems in VIMSAR including shortage of staff and doctors. But the situation in Malkangiri is more acute and the service of more number of doctors is required there. Hence, we have taken this step,” other junior doctors said.

Common people and the civil societies here have welcomed the decision of the JDA.
