Here is another good example of humanity. A doctor in VIMSAR, Burla, purchased medicines worth Rs 1 lakh for a few poor patients suffering from Covid and black fungus to save their lives.

As per information, a few patients suffering from ‘black fungus’ are undergoing treatment in the VIMSAR who need medicines, which are very costly and not available in the MCH for free. Even some of the medicines are not available in Odisha.

But when Professor Dr Shankar Ramchandani, who is known for his social activities and service to the poor and in -charge of Covid ward of the MCH, came to know about the plights of these patients, he suo mottohelped them. He immediately ordered for three costly medicines including the life saving injection Amphotericin B and gave it to the patients for his own pocket.

Such a noble work worked immensely and the patients suffering from black fungus have developed a lot and their condition is stable, the VIMSAR sources said. “From my student career, I have never given importance to money. For me, human life is most important and as a doctor I always remember it,” said Dr Ramachandani with a note of satisfaction in mind. “If money can save life, I will continue to do it with resources available with me,” he said further.
