Villagers threaten to lock J'suguda plant

Published on:

The displaced citizens are no more ready to tolerate the treacheries of Indo Barath Energy Utkal limited (IBEUl) plant located at Sahajbahal in Jharsuguda district.  During setting up the plant, the management had given many promises to acquire land for construction of the plant.  But without fulfilling their assurances, they are delaying the matter further.

Only some local youths have been given the temporary job of teachers by the factory. These teachers also have not been paid their arrear salary for last ten months for which they have approached the District Administration for justice.  They have also given ultimatum to fulfil their long standing demand within three days, failing which they have threatened to lock the main gate of the company.

The villagers of the nearby areas were given false assurance of jobs while acquiring land for the plant. They said that the displaced persons were given a meagre salary of RS 2,000 to Rs 3,000 by the factory management with assurance of hike in future. Repeated approaches to the factory management and district administration have proved futile. The displaced villagers have met ADM Sitaram Patel and requested to take action against the company.
