A thief was thrashed to death by villagers while his associate sustained critical injuries in the attack at Sunapali village under Kabisuryanagar police limits in Ganjam district late on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Ganga Kandi of Ranipada village in Polasara block of district.
According to reports, Ganga and his associate had gone to Sunapali at around 11.30 pm with an intention to commit theft. Spotting them, locals nabbed two and thrashed them mercilessly. The duo was critically injured while Ganga was taken to Polasara hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
