Villagers protest against Tata co

With a slew of demands of the villagers, an indefinite agitation against the Tata company has been launched at Marthapur village in Jajpur district. The villagers led by Satyabrata Prusty have extended their full support to the agitation.

The agitators’ demands include removal of the Maa Enterprises contractor from the job of transferring various contractual works of the Tata company, employment of villagers in various works, socio-economic development of the village and no contact between a particular senior official of the company and the village.

Prusty said that while the company is transferring its entire contractual works to the contractor, the latter does not get the jobs done properly. He further said that a company should work for the interests of the people living in the peripheral areas.

Earlier in May this year, the company had accepted six demands of the villagers including water supply and establishment of a library and a community centre.
