Villagers of Dhinkia cast votes after 10 years

Published on:

After a gap of ten long years, members of the Posco Pratirodh Sangram Samiti (PPSS), a body that has been protesting establishment of the Posco project since the beginning, and the voters of Dhinkia village in the proposed Posco project site cast their votes for the lok Sabha and Assembly elections on Thursday. The voters exercised their franchise at the polling booth set up at the Dhinkia Primary School. The villagers here had cast their votes last in the 2004 general elections while they stayed away from the elections in 2009 fearing arrest since the agitation against the Posco project was at its peak at that time. The district administration made elaborate arrangements for the smooth conduct of the polls in the area.
