Bajrang Dal activists and villagers of Mursundi under Birmaharajpur block in Subarnapur district on Sunday detained a cattle-laden truck and a Scorpio SUV providing escort to it.
Both the trucks (OR 01 R 8252) and Scorpio (OD 11 G 0093) are registered in the name of one SK Saban. Both the vehicles have been handed over to the police.
Sources said after knowing that cattle were transported illegally in a vehicle outside the State, the villagers and Bajrang Dal activists intercepted the truck.
What was surprising was the truck didn’t have valid documents and the police did not have any information about the transport of the cattle. It is suspected that the smugglers were hand in glove with police.
This suspicion was further strengthened after police arrived after hours at Mursundi after being informed. The Bajrang Dal activists and locals have demanded stringent action against the cattle traders.
