On Monday night, a truck ran over a 25-year-old biker near the Nuadihi tollgate on NH-49, leading to his death on the spot. The deceased Sushant Bhusan Behera of Rourkela was an employee in the Bhushan Power Plant.Irate Nuadihi villagers blocked NH-49 demanding a 30-kmph speed limit from the Belpahar railway gate to Ib river bridge.On Sunday, a 26-year-old youth had also died after an accident on the highway in Brajrajnagar. The villagers had blocked NH-49 for four hours. Due to the blockade, a pregnant woman being taken to a hospital gave birth to a dead child on the road. As per medical reports, the baby could have been saved if the woman had been brought to the hospital in time.
