Amidst a heartrending atmosphere, about 3,000 of Deulatara and its adjoining villages in Kendrapada district paid their last homage to their village lad and BSF Constable Kishore Ranjan Rout, who died in a plane crash on Tuesday.
BSF personnel gave Guard of Honour with gun Salute to the martyr at the cremation ground before his mortal remains were set afire.
Notably, Rout (37) and nine other BSF Jawans had been killed as a BSF aircraft carrying them crashed at Dwarka near New Delhi shortly after take-off on Tuesday.
Villagers and school students stood on roadsides and paid flower tributes to the body on Thursday morning when it came in a procession from from the Kandiahaat hospital premises to Deulatara. The body had been kept in the hospital as it reached there late on Wednesday.
People were seen weeping and giving respect to Rout for his sacrifice. “We feel proud that a son of our locality has sacrificed his life for the sake of the motherland,” said villagers.
Kishore talked to me on last Sunday over mobile and told me to take care of my health. He too said he would come home within 15 daysand take me to a hospital for health check-up. Now, who would take care of my health,” said Kishore’s weeping father Balakrushna Rout, who is a retired BSF staff.
Kishore, the only son of his parents, had joined the BSF 15 years ago. He joined the BSF after completion of his BSc. Kishore worked in Kashmir for 10 years and since 2012, he had been working in the Palam airport. He had recently completed his MBA and would have been promoted to higher position.
Kishore’s body was cremated at Kali Padia, the grave yard of Deulatara amidst chanting of Sahid ‘Kishore Amar Rahe’.
Meanwhile, locals demanded that either the Government or the BSF to give a job to Kishore’s wife Pragati so that she would able to take care of his elderly parents.
