Vigilance sleuths on Thursday raided the houses and office of Dhenkanal Superintendent of Excise Prasanna Kumar Mohanty on the allegation of possession of disproportionate assets and traced his assets worth Rs 2.49 crore
The locations raided included Mohanty’s residential house located at Plot No 87, Gatikrushna Villa, Bhubaneswar, office chamber at Dhenkanal, a four storied building at Kalinga Vihar, Ghatikia, a triple storied building at CDA, Sector-11, Cuttack, residential house of Sunita Dalai (Mohanty’s wife), ASI of Excise, at Panda Colony, Goilundi, Brahmapur, his paternal house located at Kabera village, Gandia, Dhenkanal, father-in-law’s house at Khankira under Dhenkanal Sadar and the office chamber of Sunita Dalai, Brahmapur.
The movable and immovable assets found from the possession of Mohanty and his family members include one five storied building over Plot No. 118, K-III, A, Kalinga Vihar, Bhubaneswar worth Rs 1,45,47,200, one three storied building over plot 2D/1054, CDA, Sector-11, Cuttack worth Rs 33,00,000, one three storied building located at Panda Colony, 1st lane, Goilundi, Brahmapur worth Rs 31,56,712, gold ornaments weighing 1,046 gms worth Rs 20,50,000, household articles found from the residential house of Mohanty located at Plot No. 87 and from the residential house of Sunita Dalai located at Panda Colony, Brahmapur worth Rs 7,12,000, deposits in SBI, laxmi Sagar Branch, Axis Bank, Kalpana Square and SBI, Budhanagar, Bhubaneswar worth Rs 3,44,122, deposits in Star Health Insurance worth Rs 58,500, besides a Maruti Suzuki Swift Desire (VDI) car, one bullet motor cycle and hard cash of Rs 40,995.
Search of the bank locker at SBI, Main Branch, Brahmapur was going on and according to the Vigilance sources, there is every possibility that the assets may exceed Rs 3 crore.
Notably, Vigilance had earlier registered a case against Mohanty for showing undue official favour to illicit distillers by accepting bribe. The case is subjudice. Mohanty had joined in Government service in 1983 as an SI of Excise.
