The Vigilance sleuths raided a house near Gundicha Temple here in Puri on Friday.
Although the Vigilance office in the city is yet to confirm about raids anywhere in the city, however, local sources cleared that some officials of the department had entered a threestoried building in Abakash Lane and conducted searches before return.
The raid made in the building has reportedly connected to the tainted RI Basant Kumar Mohanty, who has been absconding since January 29
after his house was searched by a team from Bhubaneswar. However, the vigilance office in the city remained silent with DSP keeping mum over the incident. When contacted over phone, the department did not clarify about seizure of assets from the building.
Sources said that the building raided at about 2 pm belongs to wife of one Ramachandra Parida, a Government servant working in Bhubaneswar. Paraid has given the building on rent to three families presently living separately in all the floors. While one Braja Pradhan was staying in the top floor, the ground and first floors have housed a family and women staff working in a Government office. Sources said also that during searches, first floor owned by the women staff was already locked with nobody present inside.
Sources also alleged that Mohanty has business links with the house owner for which raids were made. Mohanty used to visit
the first floor every night having a prior link with the women, addedsources.
