A team of the State Vigilance wing on Thursday interrogated former Odisha State Cooperative Bank (OSCB) president and Odisha Jan Morcha (OJM) general secretary Jangeswar Babu for his alleged involvement in unlawful disbursement of loan worth Rs 36.18 crore to Bijayananda Sugar Mill at Balangir during his tenure as the OSCB president.

A special vigilance court remanded Babu in judicial custoday for another 14 days in connection with a second case where he allegedly sanctioned Rs 1.50 crore for the infrastructure development of other sugar mills which the anti-corruption wing had slapped against him. However, the court allowed the investigating agency to take Babu in 4-day remand in connection with disbursement of Rs 36.18 crore. Babu was produced before the court on Wednesday. While his bail plea in connection with the first case was refused, sources said.
