Vigilance sleuths and staffs of the Regional Pollution Control Board, Rourkela on Thursday conducted a joint raid on the Jai Balaji Jyoti Steel limited at Tainsor in Sundargarh district while acting on allegations that the company has been evading sales tax and flouting pollution norms since long.
Sources said the Vigilance sleuths first raided the company offices to verify whether the company has been regularly paying sales tax or not. During this time they noticed that adequate measures to check pollution have not been taken by the company inside its plant premises. They soon informed the Regional Pollution Control Board officials.
Pollution Board officials soon reached the factory.
