Vig fails to submit chargesheet despite High Court order

Even though the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court after hearing a PIl filed by a petitioner had directed the State Vigilance Directorate to take stringent legal action against the erring officials of city-based Odisha Association for the Blind, the investigation agency has failed to submit a chargesheet even after 13 long months.

The petitioner, former general secretary of Odisha Association for the Blind Sanyaas Behera had alleged before the court that the officials of the Odisha Association for the Blind are involved in misappropriation of Government grants and other gross financial irregularities.

However, the Investigating Officer Rupadhar Nayak has failed to submit the chargesheet of the case 13 months after pronouncement of the court’s order. This is a mockery of justice.  There should be quick and fair trial of the case, demanded some visually challenged persons.

Due to the delay in submission of the chargesheet, the outgoing office-bearers, whose term has expired from January 5, 2017 are illegally continuing in office and having a good time in funds of the association, alleged Behera.

He demanded a CBI inquiry into the misappropriation of Government grants sanctioned by the Union Ministry off Human Resource Development.
