After video of a tribal child of Sundargarh district, licking one leaf plate, went viral on Thursday, the Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) on Friday called for an action taken report from the district administration.
A team of district administration with the officials of Childline visited the spot on Friday and recovered the poor child on Friday.
Sources said, a video of about a two years old male child of tribal dominated Sundargarh had gone viral on Thursday.
It was seen in the video that the child (without any cloth on his body) was licking a leaf plate, which was probably dumped as waste, after some marriage party. The video reportedly had exposed the extreme poverty of the child. Sources said, the child was later identified as son of one Raban Munda, a native of Dadugotha pada under Ganua panchayat of Koira block of the district.
Raban reportedly had lost his wife few months back. He has three children like Rajan Munda (7), Malati Munda (5) and Manoranjan Munda (2.5 years).
Ravan reportedly works as a daily labour and there has been no adult person to take care of his children during his absence. According to sources, a team of district administration along with officials of Childline visited the Dadugotha pada and recovered the 2,5 year old child. "Raban Munda, father of three children has denied to hand over his two elder children and therefore we have recovered his youngest child," said District Child Protection Officer, Sundagarh S Jena.
"The child will be produced before the Child Welfare Committee, Sundargarh and as per the direction of the CWC, necessary care and protection would be provided to the child," Jena added. Jena also confirmed that he has received one notice from OSCPCR, seeking action taken report.
