Family members of Hemant Nayak, whose body was found hanging from a tree near Kusapalla village, five km from the Begunia police station on Sunday, met the Odisha State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) on Monday and demanded an independent inquiry into the death.
They held the IIC of Begunia PS responsible for the death of the 33-year-old youth, who was detained by the police on Saturday in connection with a petty crime.
