The Khurdha District and Sessions Court on Wednesday reserved its verdict on the Enforcement Directorate (ED)’s plea to take Seashore CMD Prashant Dash on remand.
On Friday, the ED had applied the court here for the remand to interrogate Dash pertaining to his firm’s illegal deposit collection and money laundering in the State.
In another case, the same court on Wednesday deferred hearing on the bail plea of Artha Tatwa (AT) Group chief Pradip Sethy to September 29, while the court reserved verdict on the bail plea of TV news channel owner Manoj Das, who was arrested by the CBI for his link with chit fund company AT Group.
The hearing on the bail plea of Sethy could not be taken up as his lawyer could not make it to the court on Wednesday, while the hearing on the bail plea of Sethy’s former colleague Ranjan Dash remained inconclusive.
On September 16, the CBI Court had sent Dash on a 14-day judicial custody after rejecting his bail application.
Meanwhile, the CBI in the afternoon produced former Advocate General Ashok Mohanty, Odia daily newspaper ‘The Odisha Bhaskar’ owner Madhu Mohanty and land broker Dharmendra Bothra in the special CBI Court after their remand period was over. The hearing on their bail pleas were in progress when reports last came in.
