In a gruesome incident, two persons were hacked to death by a hawker at Anelakata village under the Bheden police limits in Bargarh district late on Saturday night. Accused Rama Patra, a puffed rice vendor, attacked three members of a Nag family with a sharp weapon. While the mother and her son died on the spot, the husband of the woman was admitted to the Bheden hospital in a critical condition.
The deceased were identified as Jama Nag and Jagabandhu. Tthe accused was later arrested by police. Though the exact reason behind the murder was unknown, sources said the vendor had an altercation with the Nag family earlier in the day. It was presumed that the accused attacked them to avenge the insult.
