The State Government on Friday issued a notification restricting issuance of fancy registration numbers for motor vehicles only to six categories of people, including in the Government and the judiciary.
As per the Article of Warrant approved today, vehicles of the the Governor Secretariat, Chief Minister, High Court Chief Justice, Deputy Chief Minister, State Assembly Speaker, Cabinet Ministers, leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, State Planning Board Chairman, former Chief Minister and Bharat Ratna Awardees would have fancy numbers like 0001, 2222, 3030, etc.
Vehicles of Government officers like Chief Secretary and District Collectors would not have any fancy number.
However, private persons can get fancy numbers, as they used to get, by paying extra charges, sources said.
