Veg Day observed at Aryabhatta

Published on:

The Aryabhatta Foundation here celebrated the World Vegetarian Day on October 1. Its chairman Dr Sudhir  Rout said the day is observed to bring awareness on the ethical, environmental, health and humanitarian benefits of vegetarian lifestyle.

The monthly observation shall end on November 1, the World Vegan Day. An analysis of five prospective studies found that vegetarians had a mortality rate 76% lower than that of non-vegetarians, he added. If the entire world goes vegetarian, the food-related emission would reduce by 63% and the overall GHG emission shall reduce by 35%, he pointed out.

He urged upon the people, more particularly the youths of present generations to go vegan to save the environment.
