Officials of the Vedanta company on Saturday attending a meeting held at the State Secretariat urged Steel and Mines Minister Prafulla Mallick to provide mines for operation of the company’s lanjigarh plant.
Company Chief Operating Officer (COO) KK Dave said at the meeting that the company could not run the plant anymore without raw material. “As we have set up an industry in Odisha, the State Government should support us to run the plant. During last two to three years, we couldn’t get bauxite,” said Dave.
The Government assured the company to give raw material through the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC). But the mines, which are given to the OMC, would take two to three years for excavation.
The Minister said a meeting would be held on Friday to discuss about the issue. “We will try to arrange raw material for Vedanta to run its plant,” he added.
