Vedanta Aluminium Company’s CSR programme Vedanta Vidyarthi Vikash Yojana (VVVY) project showed a brilliant performance as the students enrolled under the project secured an average of 88 per cent passing rate including 32 in first division against the State’s 75.99 per cent in this year’s matriculation examinations.
As many as 132 out of 150 students who appeared came out successful in the examinations. “The Vedanta Vidyarthi Vikash Yojana over the last four years has become a role model and shown the way for community-based education,” said the teachers of the project.
According to VAl COO Abhijit Pati, the VVVY was initiated with well-defined objectives and strategies by engaging local NGO Anchalik Jana Kalyan Anusthan. In this project, apart from regular morning classes, parents-teachers meetings, orientation of students, life skill education to students, parents counselling and monthly unit tests are being conducted with defined indicators and deliverables, he added.
The splendid achievement of success is in sharp contrast to the performance of four years back when only 20 students could appear at the HSC examinations and out of them only four students had passed, the project officials said.
