The Vedanta Aluminium, Lanjigarh unit launched celebrating the World Environment Week with this year’s theme ‘Tackling Air Pollution’ here from June 5.
During the week, the company will organise mass plantation drives, sapling distribution and other competitions aimed at educating the community and employees on preserving air quality in which employees, their family members, associate partners and local community members would participate.
On Wednesday, a massive sapling distribution ceremony was conducted at the 36 childcare centres, and plantation drives were organised at ten childcare centres.
Besides, a total of 1,800 saplings were planted and distributed with a pledge to care for the plants until these grow into trees.
Vedanta Alumina Business CEO Rahul Sharma said the day marks another event for the company to increase efforts to augment and enhance the green cover and encourage a culture of sustainability among our local communities.
