The first aluminium sector workshop under Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) initiative was hosted by the Vedanta Jharsuguda unit here for an exchange of best practices in Aluminium industries covered under the Perform Achieve and Trade (PAT) scheme.
PAT is a flagship initiative of Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), which is a mechanism for promoting energy efficiency in large industries. Inaugurating the workshop, Vedanta Aluminium Business CEO Abhijit Pati highlighted the importance of best practice sharing which will encourage the industries to save electricity, coal and oil and also mitigate green house gas emissions.
Around 200 distinguished speakers, aluminium industry leaders from Nalco, Hindalco, Balco, Government agencies, research institutions, energy managers and auditors attended the workshop. A table top exhibition was also held that showcased the energy efficient technologies. Various models on energy conservation initiatives were displayed at the exhibition.
