The contract workers employed through STAGE Company in the Vedanta steel plant here are running through uncertainty of their jobs as the agreement entered between the two companies for seven years will expire shortly. A new company, Powermac, will work for Vedanta in its place. Now, around 1,600 workers who are employed through STAGE are not sure whether they will be inducted by new company, nor is any assurance given by Vedanta to them.
At a Press meet on Wednesday, the workers told mediapersons about their decision to go in for an indefinite strike shortly if they are not taken by the new company.
