Vector-borne diseases: RGH, IGH to have special wards

Published on:

In a significant development, special wards will be opened at the Rourkela Government Hospital (RGH) and the Ispat General Hospital (IGH) here during July-September to prevent vector-borne diseases like dengue and chikungunia.

A decision to this effect was taken at a taskforce meeting held under the chairmanship of Rourkela ADM RN Mishra, instructed by the State Health Department.

As per the department guidelines, necessary steps should be taken to prevent dengue and other water-borne viral diseases, especially among school going children as well as common people.

Besides, special attention should be given to cleanliness in and around various garage areas and awareness programmes should be initiated immediately in this regard. It also focuses on restriction on plastic uses and stringent action to be taken against

the violators.
