People administered with Covid-19 vaccine are also likely to get infected with the virus. However, the vaccine would prevent the patients from any kind of serious complication, said State Health and Family Welfare Director Bijay Panigrahi on Friday.
Speaking to media, he said, “There is possibility that people can contract the virus even after getting vaccinated. But the vaccine will prevent the patients from the risk of hospitalisation and death.”
Regarding shortage of vaccines in State, Panigrahi said immunisation drive was halted in two districts, Subarnapur and Koraput, on Thursday due this reason. “Currently, 3.2 lakh Covishield and 1 lakh Covaxin vaccines are in stock, which will exhaust today (Friday). We hope Centre will supply adequate vaccines to State soon,” he added.
