In a bid to control monopoly of the autonomous colleges affiliated to the Utkal University, the university authorities have decided to bring reforms for transparency in examination paper evaluation and other activities.

This was decided at a meeting of autonomous college principals chaired by university Vice-Chancellor Soumendra Mohan Patnaik on Tuesday.

As per the decision, a major reform would be made in the autonomous colleges restricting the college authorities from preparing syllabus and evaluation of answer sheets on their own way.

There would be a common syllabus for all autonomous colleges, completion of examinations in a scheduled time and a central evaluation system would be implemented.

The university has sought opinions from the college authorities on bringing reforms. The new guideline would be in force from the 2018-19 academic session.

A calendar would be prepared in view of the difficulties that students face due to examinations being held during different periods in the autonomous colleges.

As per the decision, the autonomous colleges would conduct examinations as per the academic calendar, which is to be prepared by the university. A guideline would be issued asking all the colleges to follow it.

Besides, the students would be provided migration certificate online. The fee would be taken from them for migration certificates during filling up of the forms. After announcement of the results, the college authorities would issue the migration certificates online. The students can collect the certificate online, said University CDC Director Prof Santosh Tripathy.
