The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) on Saturday directed the Bhubaneswar DCP to submit an action-taken report (ATR) within four weeks on the death of Suman Sharma, who died inside the car she was driving during the road blockade by Utkal University students in front of the university main gate on September 26.
The commission issued the notice in response to a petition filed by family members of the deceased. Stating that Suman had died of severe shock which caused her brain haemorrhage, the family urged the commission to punish the culprits responsible for the sudden tragic incident.
Earlier in the day, the Commissionerate Police received the postmortem report which states that the death of Suman was due to brain haemorrhage.
“We have received the postmortem report and will take necessary action in this regard,” Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi told reporters.
