Even though three days have elapsed since Bismay Dash, a 4th year Integrated law student, began a hunger strike at the main gate of the Utakl University, officials were yet to meet him. Das has been demanding early chargesheet on his FIR lodged at the Saheed Nagar PS and removal of VC Dr Ashok Kumar Das from his post for his alleged irregular activities. “Neither VC nor any other staff has visited the dharna spot yet. Government is also not taking any initiative. The deteriorating health condition of Bismay will only trigger unrest among students of various institutions. If the demands are not fulfilled soon, the hunger strike will continue,” said some students.
