Utkal University (UU) stormed into the semifinals of the SOA Premier league (SPl) T-20 cricket championship by defeating MG Kashi Vidyapith by seven wickets at the SOA Stadium here on Friday.
Utkal to top in group-A with two victories joins Ravenshaw and Sambalpur University in the last four. The last tie in group-B between the hosts SOA and Birla Global University, slated for the evening, would decide the fourth semifinalist.
While in semifinals to be played on Saturday, Utkal would clash with Ravenshaw while Sambalpur await the winners in the SOA versus BGU match.
Asked to bat first, Kashi Vidyapith managed to make 133 for nine in the allotted 20 over while Utkal reached the target of 134 runs losing three wickets in only 14 over to win the match.
In an inconsequential group-C encounter, CET crushed the Centurion University by nine wickets. Choosing to bat first winning the toss, Centurion were bowled out for 74 in 17.2 over. In reply, CET overhauled the paltry target losing only one wicket in 10.1 over.
