An under-trial prisoner (UTP), Janardan Swain alias Jubulu, who is presently cooling his heels in Alipingala sub-jail on the charge of physically assaulting his sister-in-law, has shot off a letter from the jail to the victim woman, threatening to take revenge against her once he gets released.

The victim woman, after receiving the letter, approached the district Superintendent of Police seeking her security. Ironically, police are yet to take any step, victim woman’s husband Sisira Swain lamented.

Reports said that the accused on May 4 had brutally attacked Diptimayi Swain with a sharp weapon owing a family dispute. As a result, the victim woman had sustained multiple injuries in her body and after treatment at the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, she returned to her village.

On July 22, Diptimayi received a post card letter from Jubulu, where he stated to take revenge against her and her husband and their two teen aged children holding the couple responsible for his present suffering in the jail. The couple has sought safety from the police failing which they warned the administration to sit on a dharana in front of SP office from August 5.
