The hunger-strike of the Utkal University Teachers’ Association (UUTA) entered its third day on Thursday.
After the failure of the Vice-Chancellor to fulfil the demands by August 31, the university teachers resumed its protest on Gandhi Jayanti with a relay hunger strike.
UUTA joint secretary Dr Siba Sankar Mohanty and executive member Dr Priya Ranjan Dash among others were present.
The demands of the association include immediate implementation of Career Advancement Scheme (CAS), 7th Pay scale Revision Committee recommendations, immediate repair of residential quarters, confirmation of faculty members, advance increment for MPhil/PhD holders, redesignation of Readers, recruitment of non-teaching staff, NPS arrears and insurance schemes.
The association alleged that since his joining as the Vice Chancellor in July last year, the VC has remained absent in his office on most occasions and because of his inaction, many important files are not getting the administrative approval. UUTA secretary Prof KB Panda demanded that the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar be removed.
