The Utkal Sammilani has sought time for its members to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to request him to establish a statue of Utkal Gaurav Madhusudan Das in the Parliament and to nominate at least one Odia person to the Rajya Sabha under the President’s discretionary quota.
“Madhusudarn Das was the guru of Mahatma Gandhi and teacher of Asutosh Mukherjee, father of BJP founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee. In view of this, Madhubabu was also the Bharat Gaurav. Despite repeated demands, a statue of Madhubabu has not been installed in the Sansad Bhavan,” lamented the Sammilani’s Mancheswar Branch president Dillip Dashsharma.
He too lamented that not a single Odia person has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha under the President’s discretionary quota.
The Sammilani has staged demonstrations and submitted memorandums through the Government many times, said Dashsharma.
