The Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI) organised a meeting on Wednesday to bid farewell to former Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati.
Pati in his reply said that in his 37 years of service, he had been through a very challenging situation as Chief Secretary to serve the public and had a rewarding experience in his endeavour. He would only carry with him the good memories of his service as a bureaucrat. A public servant should be well-equipped and deliver justice to people, he said.
He underscored that the State should no longer go on without generating revenue and resources. He urged industries to work for farmers’ welfare through CSR activities.
Representatives of various associations described Pati as a distinctive personality having many good qualities. Some of Pati’s remarkable achievements included creation of a good industrialisation climate and improvement in districts’ administration.
Former UCCI secretary Debabrata Dash said Pati was a compassionate bureaucrat, who was a leader and could tackle situations with all complex problems.
UCCI president Ramesh Mahapatra, who chaired the function, also delivered the welcome address. Additional Chief Secretary & Development Commission R. Balakrishnan and Fisheries & ARD Department Commissioner-cum-Secretary Bishnupada Sethi also spoke on the occasion.
