A delegation led by Utkal Bharat president MA Kharabela Swain met ST and SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Ramesh Chandra Majhi on Saturday and submitted a memorandum demanding appointment of the State Other Backward Class Commission Chairman soon.
The party pointed out that the State Government has reserved 11.25 per cent for the SEBC in the education institutions and Government jobs, but according to the Constitution there is reservation of 27 per cent for the OBC. So, if immediate steps are taken then SEBCs can be benefitted as per the Constitution.
The party threatened that if the Commission Chairman post is not fulfilled within a month, the party would knock at the door of the High Court.
Among others, party youth president Jagadish Pradhan, Bhubaneswar president Nabakishore Pradhan and secretary Rabinarayan Das and media head Suresh Sahu were present.
