Expressing concern over crop loss due to the drought situation in the State, the Utkal Bharat on Monday slammed the State Government for its apathetic attitude towards the farmer community.
In a statement, the party alleged that the lackadaisical attitude of the Government has increased farmers’ anxiety manifold. Instead of finding solutions, the Government is putting all the blames on the Union Government for this, said party State chief Kharabela Swain.
On the other hand, the Union Government sends expert team to consider the situation as per its own convenience and interest.
Amid such rivalry between the State Government and the Centre, the farmers finding no alternatives get forced to commit suicide due to debt and crop loss, added Swain.
The party demanded that the State Government, as per its announcement, immediately implement the package for drought situation and take steps to instil self-confidence among the farmers.
