Utkal Bharat lodges FIR against CM, Vig Director

Armed with the stricture of the Odisha High Court to the Vigilance Director while quashing a corruption case filed against former DGP and current CRPF DG Prakash Mishra, Utkal Bharat president MA Kharabela Swain filed an FIR against the Chief Minister and the Vigilance Director at the Capital police station here on Saturday. He urged the police to take appropriate action against them on the ground of hatching a criminal conspiracy against Mishra.

“In the FIR, I have mentioned that the HC, which quashed the case against Mishra recently, observed that the State Vigilance had deliberately and willfully registered a one-sided case against Mishra to satisfy higher-ups. Besides, the court also said that honest officers like Mishra are made victims by political leaders in India. My question is, who is this political bossIJ” Swain told reporters after his return from the police station. He said such is the audacity of the State Government that it has not taken any action against the Vigilance Director till date in spite of the stinging criticism by the HC.

Since the HC observed that the Vigilance Director was more concerned in exhibiting his loyalty to the ruling political establishment, akin to the old adage of more loyal than the king, Swain said, “It clearly shows that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, being the Minister of Home and Vigilance Department, had entered into a criminal conspiracy with the Vigilance Director Singh to harass Mishra in order to prevent him from being selected as the CBI Director for which his name was being considered.”
